NEW YORK STATE ATTORNEY GENERAL TARGETS CRISIS PREGNANCY CENTERS
NEW YORK, Jan 8, 02 (LSN.ca/CWNews.com) - New York State
Attorney General Elliot Spitzer, a zealously pro-abortion
Democrat, launched a major legal offensive against New York
City-area pro-life crisis pregnancy centers last Friday.
Officers of the New York Attorney General served subpoenas,
which were identical, to at least two crisis pregnancy
centers on Staten Island and Manhattan and it seems evident
that most if not all crisis pregnancy centers will be
targeted in New York City and Long Island by the end of
next week.
According to the subpoena, "Based upon his initial
investigation, the Attorney General has a good faith belief
that the entities named ... may have violated one or more
... statutes by misrepresenting the services they provide,
diagnosing pregnancy and advising persons on medical
options without being licensed to do so, and/or providing
deceptive and inaccurate medical information." Chris
Slattery, founder of Expectant Mother Care, with five New
York City pregnancy center locations, and Chris Ferrara of
the American Catholic Lawyers Association have begun
assembling a team of attorneys to respond to the
allegations.
Slattery's clinics have raised the ire of abortionists and
their supporters especially for their success in depriving
abortionists of business. Slattery's clinics are well known
for their use of 3-D ultrasound machines which show
expectant mothers their unborn children, in real-life
images. While conventional two-dimensional sonograms can be
effective, with the three-dimensional technology the mother
is able to easily recognize the humanity of her child
otherwise hidden in her womb.
